Grid Connection & Power Upgrade

Switching from single-phase to three-phase supply, increasing connected power, new metering cabinet and the full HEP utility procedure through to energisation.

A heat pump, an EV charger, air conditioning in every room or an electric instant water heater — an old single-phase connection with a 16 A main fuse can't handle them. We carry out the complete switch to a three-phase supply and the increase of connected power: from the application to HEP-ODS (the Croatian grid operator) through to energisation.

What's included

  • Load analysis — calculating the required connected power based on your appliances and planned upgrades (EV, solar, heat pump)
  • HEP-ODS procedure — application for the grid connection consent (EES), alignment with the connection conditions and technical communication with the operator
  • Metering cabinet (PMO) — new cabinet to HEP-ODS specifications, on the façade or boundary wall, prepared for a smart meter
  • Supply cable — new feeder from the metering cabinet to the distribution board, sized for the new power
  • Distribution board — adaptation or replacement: main switch, RCD protection, surge protection, phase balancing
  • Testing and certificate — measurements and the test report required for connection

Process

  1. Site review — inspection of the existing connection, board and documentation
  2. Quote and plan — clear quote with a bill of works and a description of the HEP procedure
  3. Execution — metering cabinet, cable, distribution board; works aligned with the HEP appointment
  4. Connection — certificate, coordination of the meter change and energisation

Who it's for

Owners of houses and apartments moving to a heat pump, EV charger or solar; investors in new builds (new connection); owners of commercial premises and apartment buildings whose existing supply doesn't cover the seasonal load.

This is a planned job with preparation and documentation — we don't do emergency call-outs or individual fuse replacements.

Frequently asked questions

How long does switching to a three-phase supply take?
Works on the building (metering cabinet, cable, distribution board) take 1–3 days. Most of the time goes to the HEP-ODS procedure — the connection consent and the meter-change appointment usually take 3–8 weeks depending on location and the operator's workload.
Do I need three-phase supply for a heat pump or EV charger?
In most cases yes. Heat pumps from 8 kW and EV chargers from 11 kW run on three phases, and an old single-phase connection with a 16 A or 20 A fuse can't cover the kitchen, air conditioning and a charger at the same time. We calculate the actual required power before quoting.
What do I pay HEP and what do I pay the contractor?
HEP-ODS charges a connection fee based on the approved power (per kW) — paid directly to the operator. The contractor (us) builds the cabinet, cable, distribution and certificate and handles the paperwork. Our quote separates our works from the HEP fee.
